DAGMAR.... Is finally ( almost ) back. I week to go SEPT 12th

One of the old school G.T.A. mtb destinations has been resurrected.  Official Press Release:

Uxbridge: September 1, 2015: The Durham Mountain Biking Association (DMBA) is pleased to announce the Grand Opening of the Dagmar North Trails on September 12, 2015. The new 13 km of trails in the Dagmar North Tract (DNT) are the culmination of eight years of planning and 5 months of building. The building was accomplished with over 200 volunteer builders investing over 5,000 hours of sweat equity in the project. This is one of the largest volunteer trail building projects in Canada.

In the meantime here is " some " of the trails sped up into a 18 minute sample video.  There is a lot more and tons of options and can't wait to add this to the mix... officially

Harold, Pete. Pete, Harold...

Pee-tar-bur-oh has a nice little trail system that goes by the name of Harold...  Harold Town Conservation Area to be specific.

We decided to hit this on the way back from a week chasing trails in QC and got rained out of a full recon ride.

Got a hour in of sliding and clipping trees in the pouring rain sliding around on Scwhable Thunderburts ( which suk in the wet ).  It was a fun little place though and definitely want to get back out there and check it out properly.
Maybe a Ganny ride in the a.m then lunch followed by a drive up there ?  The only thing is the distance vs. abundance of trail.  Hard to make this a go to outing when your driving from T.O.  If you want to check out a small sample of the trails there is a 2 min video here.

The Real Slim Shady

Love this end trail.  Ended up on this at least 6 times so far as it leads right back to the Red Agave Resort and its a killer way  to end whatever epic or direction you head off in.

My Local....

Depending on who you talk to there is anywhere from 4 to 6 hours of trails to ride in the Don Valley.  Taylor Creek, The Ridge, Dirt Jumps and all the usual suspects only account for about 2 and those 2 are also the most traveled.  Having done a few recon rides with Thorben I think I have a good idea on the network now and still finding new stuff...

First Day of Summer = First Palgrave Point to Point

What a killer day to kick of the official start of Summer.  Kris and I went out to Palgrave to do the first portion of the Hockley Epic.  The route is a long time coming and has taken several re-con rides to link it all together but you could not have gotten a better day for this. Stay tuned for the video...

Copeland Forest

Love this place.  Been riding different loops at different events for years and still manage to get lost and find new trail each outing.  2 Niners and a Silk ti had a good outing on Sunday and this is a short video with a really nice downhill that Thorben sorted out towards the end of the video.

Ravenshoe

Headed out for a late afternoon rip around Ravenshoe to clear my head up a bit. Trailbuilders have been busy. Kris and I met up and had a good rip

Mono Center

Decided to stop in at Mono for a few laps on the way back from Collingwood. Another stellar day weather wise and a almost empty Provincial Park.

401 on a Friday Afternoon....

It rained a lot last night and a few people said the ride up to 401 would be brutal given the dry conditions and in some spots several inches of dirt dust but it packed it down enough to not be a issue to us at least.  The general store in Gothic served up some cold bevvies and the day was done....

Doctor's Park

Well they got a bit of rain today.  16 km climb to the start of the trail proper on dirt road with a nice middle ring gradient.  This is the second time here that lightning shortened the ride.  That's ok though try to hit it again before splitsville rolls around.

The plan for Friday is Upper, Snodgrass, Lupine, Lower in the morning then going up to Mt CB to rent a Specialized Demo 8 after 4 pm since the chair lifts are free. $40 gets you 2 hours on this world cup DH rig and full face helmet and all the armor you need to get down in 1 piece :) Can't pass that up.

Lupine Trail

Trying out the K-Edge GoPro Big Mounts.  This is another killer from town ride day that Chris suggested we ride and the views and trail  delivered nuff grins. This trail was built in 2011 I believe so did not do this the last time but we had a blast on it yesterday.

K-Edge GoPro Mounts

I want to thank Joe at K-Edge for hooking me up with these 2 mounts so I could demo them in Crested Butte and see what a few other camera mount options look like.  These are machined out of aluminum so they are light, they have torque settings and the best part is you don't have to build these mini k-nex mounts from the GoPro grab bag.  The video above was shot with the bar mount and the stability is a huge improvement over the stock set up.  Only thing you will need to remember to have with you if you want to move them around on a ride is a 3 mm allan key OR grab a second camera with the wifi bac-pac and your set.

1 Up USA - Hitch Mounted Bike Rack

I posted a fairly detailed pseudo review of these when I got this rack a few weeks ago.

Well 20 degrees in Ontario in March is great for one thing....TRAILS. Loaded up the rack and headed up to Durham Forest and the rack was perfect. It's doing all the things I wanted it to do. Easy set up, Super easy bike loading and freeing up hatch space.

The detail is unreal on this rack. 100% built in WI USA. If you want a more detail report and install pics you can find them here.
