1 Mile Wall
Yesterday was a good break from trails. Went down to Almont to climb in the Taylor Canyon area.
The location was 1 mile wall and it had 2 pitches which translates to a few hundred feet up. Enough of a workout to enjoy a few double stuffed tacos in town after.
This was the next step up from Mt. CB Guides ridge done on the last trip and surprisingly really enjoyed this. Fear factor is there for sure but Jason has the highest climbing guide certification available so safety is not ever even a second thought. The only part of this that was unnerving was the multi pitch approach as your climbing with Jason above insetad of below and you have to un-clip your line yourself as you ascend.
I never really thought I would enjoy this sport but I would do this again for sure. Tonight is the last night in Crested Butte and Tuesday means moving down the road to Salida. Not sure how long will be spent there as the original shuttle / guide fell through so have to see what other options are available for the Monarch Crest trail.

Doctor's Park
Well they got a bit of rain today. 16 km climb to the start of the trail proper on dirt road with a nice middle ring gradient. This is the second time here that lightning shortened the ride. That's ok though try to hit it again before splitsville rolls around.

The plan for Friday is Upper, Snodgrass, Lupine, Lower in the morning then going up to Mt CB to rent a Specialized Demo 8 after 4 pm since the chair lifts are free. $40 gets you 2 hours on this world cup DH rig and full face helmet and all the armor you need to get down in 1 piece :) Can't pass that up.

K-Edge GoPro Mounts
I want to thank Joe at K-Edge for hooking me up with these 2 mounts so I could demo them in Crested Butte and see what a few other camera mount options look like. These are machined out of aluminum so they are light, they have torque settings and the best part is you don't have to build these mini k-nex mounts from the GoPro grab bag. The video above was shot with the bar mount and the stability is a huge improvement over the stock set up. Only thing you will need to remember to have with you if you want to move them around on a ride is a 3 mm allan key OR grab a second camera with the wifi bac-pac and your set.

Hump Day Options
So many trails so little time. Ventured out on a fairly long loop today and the goal was not to rely on maps or suggestions, we eyeballed a loop and set out to go.
The thing that I find good is the difference in terrain as you can go from sandy singletrack to slick rock to small forested areas all within miles.
Today had a good amount of slickrock and I guess the best way to describe it ( imo very different than Moab )is imagine sprinkling baby powder on kitchen tiles and ride it. That's what the sand / rock combo feels like to me.
Trails today were: Made in the Shade, Slim Shady, HT trail, Bell Rock, Little Horse, Llama, Little Bell & Courthouse to Bike & Bean to Hot Tub. 3rd day of riding to the ride. Legs are tired but you forget about than 15 min into the ride. Temps are HOT can't imagine what they do in the summer. I guess go north to Flagstaff ? Going to link with the OTE shop ride on Friday afternoon which will introduce the Sedona West trail systems.

W O W
This video is going to get left up for a good long while. Normally we see trials videos mostly in urban settings from the likes of Ryan Leech or Danny MacAskill ripping up the UK streets or Stanley Park in Van.
Well Chris Akrigg from the Mongoose team takes this to a new level. Enjoy the video in full screen HD.
